What is Wellness?

Invitation EXEC-EDU, I participated in a series of very short (5-15 minutes) sessions on the topics: what Wellness means, Well-being, Spa. We have decided to summarize only the very concrete, tangible and easy to understand aspects, and those interested to discover on despreSpa.ro more details. For this reason, I will provide each time, at the end of the article, links with references to other materials that might be of interest. EXEC-EDU has been developing for several years the Well-being Programs direction - and we, despreSpa.ro, have been from the beginning their collaborators on various wellness workshops, wellness teambuilding, spa corner at events etc.

Last night, at our first meeting, we discussed what Wellness means, translated in Romanian as "state of well-being":

Based on WHO (World Health Organization) statistics, 75% of chronic diseases can be prevented by: balanced nutrition, massage, sleep, mindfulnesstime spent in nature yes movement. These habits are the very axes of wellness.

What is wellness?

According to the Global Wellness Institute, Wellness is the totality of habits that keep us healthy. Which translates into a mix between: relaxation, movement, spiritual balance, spiritual balance, well-groomed physical appearance, harmonization with nature and a balanced diet. 

About each of them: 

Balanced nutrition

besides ce you eat (and wellness specialists recommend a food as alkaline as possible - somewhere between 70-80% alkalinity); it also depends on cat you eat (as much - as much as our stomach is - at a meal); how much you chew food before you swallow it etc.

Regular, daily movement

preferably in nature, but even at home: go for a 10 min run, or dance or bike - or simply do some morning stretching exercises / yoga, pilates - there are hundreds of free classes available during this period - and you will feel much better in the long run!

Neat physical appearance

doesn't mean no false nails, no sun, no Botox injections. It means moisturized skin. That comes from both the water we drink and the (natural) creams we apply to our skin. From how much sleep we get and at what hours, through correct breathing, a balanced state of mind. But also from other factors that make us beautiful on the inside: because if we are beautiful on the inside, we will certainly be beautiful on the outside! 

Harmonization with nature

The latest studies show that people relax much better in nature, not in Lux. The essential oils emanating from the flora, the rustling of water, the chirping of birds, all contribute to our relaxation much better, much more effectively than luxury.

In 2016 a WHO report found that every year 12.6 million people (approx. 22%) die prematurely due to pollution at home or at work. It follows that Romanians have the opportunity to go on vacations / weekends in seaside resorts in Romania. Via Balneo you can strengthen your immune system through the natural healing factors that our country has been blessed with!

Spiritual balance

It's clear that we will never be Tibetan monks and that none of us - none of us - tend towards that. But, we can introduce 2-3 minutes of meditation (or prayer) into our daily routine. You probably know that many scientific studies have already been done demonstrating the effects of meditation. From now on nobody considers meditation as voodoo. The effects of mediation have been demonstrated by its introduction in kindergartens (in the USA and the UK in particular) and now the trend is to include it in schools. And it should be mentioned that it has been introduced with great success and extraordinary effects also in prisons.  

Besides meditation, we can try to think every day about who we are gratefulFor help or whatever, who we can help - from the heart - not to get something in return. All this can be done by any of us. And gradually, we get to love people more, be better and feel better!

Relax

For relaxation we recommend spa centers because here you will get a rapid de-escalation both physically and mentally - physically through the therapy received. In the next video we will explain in more detail what Spa means.

In short, what is wellness?

Wellness means changing unhealthy habits into healthy habits, but this requires active and daily involvement in prevention and relaxation. 

It's one thing to live like a vegetable in the last years of your life, it's another to enjoy every moment of your life and spend every day full of vitality!
