Because I've been going to Country SPA in Snagov and every time I had a great time with them, I decided to make a video, so you can see them through my eyes.
From the moment you walk in you are greeted by the smell of black orchids. Wood and stone predominate. There's a lot of light, because the walls of the building are in fact huge windows, and the decor elements, as the Spa's name says, are specifically Romanian: clay pots, straw, daisies.
The spa is 600 square meters, with six treatment rooms. If you look closely, you'll notice dandelions everywhere. We asked why? And we learned that the Country Spa story began with a field full of dandelions.
Let's say that one day, God sent an angel to all the plants to ask them what they wanted to look like. Only the dandelion didn't know what to be like, and the angel gave him another day to think about it. On that day, the dandelion, praying, looked up at the Sun and decided to look like the Sun: yellow and beautiful.
Then he saw the moon and changed his mind. He wanted to be like it, round and white and beautiful. Then he saw the stars and he liked those too. When the angel came, she didn't know what to say: she wanted to be the sun, like the moon and the stars. But God understood his wish. That's why the dandelion is at first yellow like the sun. Then white and round like the moon. And if you blow on it, it scatters like the stars.
They researched further and found that dandelion is the source of a variety of nutrients, and its leaves and root contain many vitamins. But also minerals, including magnesium, zinc, potassium, iron, calcium. Its benefits cover a huge range: from anti-aging effects, analgesic effect, relieves bone and muscle pain, removes water from tissue, treats and prevents skin conditions and more.
They even dedicated a signature ritual to it: the ritual of the dandelion.
The dandelion ritual It starts with a body scrub, which is designed to remove debris from the surface of the skin.
After this scrub, you're left with a velvety soft tissue, ready for the next steps. Because Ileana Maiovschi, the head therapist at the Country SPA, knew from previous visits that I have sensitive skin, she chose a powder scrub for me - something gentler, less aggressive on the skin.
The pressure he used was medium and the speed of the maneuvers - low. So as not to overstimulate the blood circulation.
After showering, I continued with a body wrap, a honey and dandelion mix. I've already told you about the benefits of dandelion.
About honey I can tell you that its beneficial effects are multiple. Both internally and externally. It is rich in important nutrients, such as vitamins B and C, minerals and amino acids, moisturizes and softens the skin. It is full of enzymes that nourish and heal the skin. It's a natural humectant which means it maintains optimal moisture levels in the skin. The amino acids in honey are essential for stimulating and accelerating cell regeneration.
After spreading the mask all over my body, Ileana wrapped me first in plastic wrap and then with two towels. At Country Spa they don't use a heat sealer, because they want everything to be as natural as possible and not to force in any way, not even the action of the natural ingredients: honey and dandelion.
For the next step, the facial massage, Ileana chose the range for sensitive skin. The massage was tailored to my skin type, as with every client. The movements had a light, gentle pressure. She started the massage with a few Marma points to induce a deep state of relaxation.
The face mask was soothing, anti-redness and anti-aging. With alginates, Diatom powder and essential oils for skin elasticity. It has a strong moisturizing action, soothing properties thanks to aloe, cranberry and St. John's wort oils.
is the closing ritual. A relaxing, medium-pressure massage that also includes lymphatic drainage maneuvers. Of course, depending on the individual's characteristics, it can be adapted.
At the Country Spa they have three categories of treatments: relaxation treatments, therapeutic packages that go deep into the muscles and energy balancing therapies.
When I don't have a very specific goal, I prefer not to choose my therapy in advance. I just book the duration and discuss it with the spa staff so that they can point out the most suitable option for me at that time.
You can read in this article Find out more about these spa treatments, the restaurant where they serve dishes made with products from their own orchard and farm, the boutique hotel and their clinic.
