Schloss Elmau is the first wellness destination in the world to collaborate with Gaga to offer dance programs as part of a special wellbeing offer for guests.
The Bavarian spa and hotel-resort Schloss Elmau wants to celebrate the joy of dance by becoming the first wellness destination in the world to offer programs focused on the intuitive practice of Gaga dance.
Gaga, described as a language of movement, is a form of physical expression and communication that requires no prior experience. Conceptualized by Ohad Naharin - choreographer, performer and former artistic director of the Batsheva Dance Company - Gaga emphasizes improvisation, momentum and the mind-body connection.
"Gaga is a way of exploration that is based on improvisation, sensation and a recognizable connection between mind and body," Schloss Elmau announced. "The practice is not comprised of specific techniques or forms, but rather invites individuals into a deep exploration of their own movement capacities in a responsive and engaging environment."
The Gaga retreat program at Schloss Elmau will start in August with a series of twice-daily classes. Led by Artistic Director Saar Harari, these classes are open to guests over the age of 16 and are designed to improve overall wellbeing and help participants experience the pleasure of movement and the joy of dance.
From March 16-20, 2025, Naharin himself will host one such program, assisted by Harari. Described as a retreat full of powerful sensations, the program will combine Gaga workout classes, Gaga theory sessions led by Naharin, spa treatments and immersion in nature.
The four-night retreat costs €2,100 per person, including room rate, full board, access to all wellness facilities, daily yoga classes.
Such Gaga-themed events will be added throughout the year, and Schloss Elmau says the events are open to all, regardless of previous level of dance experience.
