To transform seaside resorts in attractive destinations, unfortunately, it is not enough just to saving the existing built stock. The demands on services, activities and conditions have changed with society. Therefore, in order to meet today's demands for spa and other practices, it is necessary to invest in new buildings.
It is important to note that these new facilities should not be abusive. New buildings should fill in where there are gaps without spoiling the image and atmosphere of the resort. Whether we are talking about entirely new buildings or extensions to older buildings, they should reflect the period in which they were built. We should not promote a pastiche-architecture, but on the contrary - the architecture of seaside resorts should reflect the image of the periods of glory - the first part of the 20th century and the contemporary period. The success of these tourist destinations will only be possible through innovation and originality, and the built environment must reflect this idea.
As I wrote earlier, new construction must not be abusive. They must be an exact response to a real requirement in the market, in society. The land on which we can intervene with new buildings is limited, and this should lead us to make responsible decisions based on real analysis. The response from the market may be different depending on the area, the country, the profile of the tourist visiting the destination and, last but not least, the primary purpose of the tourist (recreational vacation, leisure, leisure holiday, etc.). relaxation with therapies spa or the need for medical treatment).
