Lake Ursu Sovata, the best medicine for gynecological diseases

Lake Ursu Sovata, the best medicine for gynecological diseasesLocated at the foot of the Ghiurghiului Mountains, at an altitude of 475-600 m, the mountain resort of Sovata is a place recognized at European level especially for the presence of salty lakes in the area. The resort has been mentioned as a spa since 1597. But it was only in 1950 that it became seaside resort

The heliothermal salt lake Ursu is one of the most famous locations due to its balneoclimatic qualities. Appreciated for the heliothermal phenomenon. The lake keeps above the salt water a layer of fresh water formed after precipitation. It stays on the surface, without mixing with the salt water. This fresh surface water acts as a thermal insulator. The level of temperature variation in the lake is thus based on the degree of solar heat accumulation in the salt water.

Hundreds of tourists annually enjoy the sun and salt baths in this place that has remained in the collective memory especially as a place for the treatment of gynecological diseases. "Sovata, where the happy girl is", especially infertility: "Take me to Sovata, mom, so I can meet my father". Sovata's balneotherapists say that the annual success rate for infertility is 45%, higher than the 25% for in vitro fertilization. Patients choose treatment at Lake Ursu either at the urging of others who have become mothers at Sovata or after that therapeutic experience, either because, in turn, they were conceived in that very place.

Benefits of curative factors

The beneficial properties of the salty lake water and the mud treatments are visible in:

  • their effect on fertility,
  • ability to heal gynecological problems such as vaginal inflammation, small ovarian cysts and other degenerative conditions.

The program includes both actual baths in the lake, as well as appointments in the center spa, at set times and on set days, being different and individualized on each patient's diagnosis.

An interesting aspect is that between 13-15, bathing in the lake is forbidden. The reason is that this is the time of maximum exposure of the water to the sun. The water is also freshened due to the currents coming from the unused part of the lake. They constantly bring fresh water. This "resting" and "freshening" period is strictly observed. This maintains the conditions in which the entire ecosystem functions and is enjoyed by so many tourists and patients, both from home and abroad.
