The strengths of Vâlcele water - You have heard and will hear only good things about Covasna. You already know that it's also called the "City of Mineral Waters", and with good reason. Its many springs are an important factor in the health of locals and visitors discovering this breathtaking land.
Every place has its own story. The area of VÂLCELE has been known for the curative qualities of its carbonated waters since the Roman occupation under the name of "COLONIA AQUARIUM VIVARUM". In 1770, the large number of visitors led the grove NEMES to systematize the area. So he built an imposing Swiss-style villa, laid out the course of the valley, collected all the mineral springs and also set up baths. This was the first spa resort in Transylvania and Romania.
What is more, in 1875 a great European congress of balneology was organized in Valcele. The organization of this congress was due to the fact that the European elite of balneology wanted to introduce the water of Vâlcele and the resort into the European circuit as a recognition of the quality of the water. Thus, on the occasion of the 18th European Congress of balneologists held in Vâlcele, the settlement was included in the catalog of the most important spas on the continent. It should also be noted that the resort of VÂLCELLE has been over time a meeting place of Western civilization with the Central-European and Eastern, in this resort French, German, Hungarian, Greek languages are spoken.
As already mentioned, the curative properties of Vâlcele water have been known since Roman times. There is a legend which says that, after the fall of Sarmizegetusa, Decebal and some of his close friends traveled up the Olt river and reached this area. When they took refuge from the fortress they left with some of the treasure and buried it. The pursuing Roman troops found that the Dacians had buried part of the hoard and started digging. However, they didn't find the treasure, but instead unearthed something far more precious, these mineral springs.
This is just a short legend from the history of Vâlcele's water, but the tradition of mineral water is rich and continues to this day.
Vâlcele water was medaled at the World Exhibitions of Vienna 1873, Brussels 1888, Budapest 1885. Vâlcele also laid the foundations of the 1848 revolution in Transylvania. From a geographical point of view, the town was geographically suitable for the meeting of revolutionaries from the three Romanian Principalities. This was possible because Vâlcele had already become a place where personalities of the time from the three Principalities, Serbia, Bulgaria, Hungary and Bessarabia, frequently traveled.
1. Vâlcele water is a bottled water in the state in which it comes from the ground, without treatment or enrichment with CO2. In this way, the water retains the correct structuring of the water molecules obtained during its formation in the hydrominer mineral deposit. Vâlcele mineral water is the only bottled medicinal water in our country. With its rich content in various elements, Vâlcele mineral water is recommended as a supplement in several treatments.
2. It is also the only mineral water ferruginous from Romania that is bottled without being deferrized, iron is a very beneficial element for the proper functioning of the body. It should be noted that about 30 % of Romania's population suffers from iron deficiency, and iron in water is the most handy and effective source of natural iron.
3. Vâlcele water is the richest mineral water in Romania in magnesium content. It has a particularly high magnesium content of 335 mg/l, being recommended in situations of maximum stress and beyond.

4. Another quality of Vâlcele water: it is a maintenance water for diabetics. Did you know that in Romania there are about two million registered diabetics and about one million unregistered?
5. And last but not least, Vâlcele water has the highest silicon content in Romania: 53.68 mg/l, a very important element in the reconstruction of bones and for their proper functioning. Silicium is particularly recommended for women over a certain age who suffer from osteoporosis. This element is beneficial in osteoporosis, and helps eliminate aluminum from the body.
Also very rich in iron, Vâlcele water is recommended in the treatment of anemia and during convalescence, for indigestion, asthenia, drowsiness or apathy, colitis and enterocolitis, as well as for the treatment of biliary disorders. It also has beneficial effects in preventing osteoporosis, asthma and chronic bronchitis, regulating the activity of the cardiovascular and nervous system, spasmophilia, mental disorders in children, and is also recommended for people who are being treated with dietary regimens for diseases such as cancer, psoriasis, multiple sclerosis, benign tumors or leukemia.
