Over the years, salt baths have been a powerful cure for respiratory ailments. The constant temperature, clean air and inhalation are the main reasons why people choose saline. It is also a means of maintaining good health.
Saline therapy, as it is also called, is a form of alternative treatment for the prevention and treatment of various respiratory conditions. At the same time it has global benefits on the body:
Natural salt ponds have increased amounts of CO2 and H2S compared to the outside air, but also minerals such as Na, Ca, Mg, are not affected by atmospheric pollutants, and the air has a slightly acidic pH. The saline bioclimate is sedative, cleansing, slightly cool in temperature and balanced in humidity. It is a true blessing of nature for human health. But they are often not easily accessible to everyone. So sometimes the best solution is to visit artificial salt ponds.
As an added benefit over Mother Nature's "built" salt ponds, artificial salt ponds are affordable to everyone. Because transportation, meals and accommodation costs are eliminated from the start. The temperature is constant, so there is no difficulty adapting to the temperature, whatever the season. Perhaps most importantly the diameter of the salt particles does not exceed 5 microns, an ideal value for particles to enter the lower airways, as anything above this value would trigger defense mechanisms. What's more, you're no longer affected by atmospheric pressure differences, such as when you go underground in a natural salt pan.
Regarding respiratory and ENT diseases - saline therapy is indicated in case of chronic sinusitis, chronic bronchitis, prevention or treatment of seasonal colds, whooping cough, otitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, bronic asthma, whooping cough, tobacco cough, otitis, certain ear infections, snoring.
At the same time, the microclimate of the saline microclimate is also indicated in treating or preventing certain disorders of the nervous system:
Saline therapy is also particularly effective for purifying the airways of smokers and ex-smokers, facilitating the elimination of particles contained in cigarette smoke, deposited on the respiratory tract and thus accelerating the healing and regeneration of the airways.
Last but not least, you can also treat certain dermatologic diseases such as psoriasis-acne, acne, eczema, dermatitis.
In terms of recommended duration for the exposure of the body to the saline atmosphere, the ideal are sessions of 30-60 min / per day depending on the condition. The number of hours/day and the number of days are also determined according to the condition.
It is also important to mention that there are "wet" and "dry" salines. Your doctor is in the best position to tell you which type of saline is best for the condition you want to treat.
There are also cases where saline therapy is contraindicated:
- cancer pulmonary;
- contagious diseases;
- pulmonary tuberculosis;
- ischemic heart disease;
- hypertension in advanced stages;
- heart, respiratory and kidney failure;
- myocardial infarction;
- angina pectoris;
