URSU LAKE in Sovata - Romania boasts many natural masterpieces, including the Ursu Lake in Sovata, a natural wonder for over 146 years. On its anniversary, we take a look at the main features that have made it so successful and famous in the country and abroad.
With a surface area of 40,000 square meters, a depth of 18 meters and an average salinity of 300 grams/liter, Lake Ursu is a real source of health. The lake is also nicknamed the "Dead Sea of Transylvania", as the salinity here is similar to that of the Dead Sea of Israel towards the surface. Seen from above, Lake Ursu is shaped like an unfurled bear's fur, hence the name.
The lake is unique in Europe due to a special natural phenomenon of heliothermal heliothermy. Why? This phenomenon occurred due to the continuous flow of a stream and rainfall into the lake, which formed a protective layer of freshwater over the salt water, creating a greenhouse effect, and thus ensuring that the deep layers of salt water are warmed.
In fact, another characteristic of the lake is that it has a double stratification: thermal and saline, and at the surface of the lake there is a 10-15 cm layer of fresh water from precipitation and a few streams, a layer with low temperature in summer (about 25 degrees Celsius). This layer focuses the sun's rays like a lens onto the layers with increasing salinity towards the depth, so that the layer at a depth of about 1.5-2 meters, called the mesothermal layer, reaches very high temperatures in summer, up to 45 degrees Celsius.
"The saline concentration is highest at the base of the lake and at a depth of 1.5-2 m. This mesothermal layer is the warmest, reaching 45 degrees Celsius and above in summer. Also at this depth is the maximum concentration of the hormones oestrogen and progesterone, similar to human female hormones, released into the lake by the saltwater crustacean Artemia salina"says Dr. Suzana Pretorian, balneologist at the Ensana Health Spa Hotels.
Therefore, at the level of the body immersed in water, reach maximum salt and hormonal concentrations, as well as the highest temperatures, therapeutic, with combined anti-inflammatory and hormone-stimulating effect for the treatment of female infertility and gynecological diseases.
In fact, Sovata, where Lake Ursu is located, is a resort that has gained both national and international renown. Salt water and sludge sapropelic from Lake Ursu, plus climate, can be some of the most important resources for everyone's health. All these features make Sovata a real blessing for people with joint, gynecological, respiratory and dermatological problems.
Their complex properties allow for the treatment and relief of many conditions. The sapropelic sludge extracted from Bear Lake contains high concentrations of minerals (especially sodium chloride) and organic substances (humic acids, vitamins and auxins: estrogen and progesterone, similar to human female hormones).
What is it used for? Bear Lake mud is used in the prevention and treatment of gynecological, rheumatic and dermatological disorders, as well as for its anti-stress effect. Auxins are the key to success in the treatment of female infertility, and after treatment with the mud, a long-lasting (about 6 months) activation of ovarian function is achieved.
Sovata resort was and is renowned in the country and abroad for the treatment of female infertility. "This type of treatment has been widely applied under medical supervision since the 1970s, with the methods available at that time. Nowadays, in addition to the classical methods, there are new methods for diagnosing the causes of infertility and the possibility of targeting the effects of therapy." adds the balneologist.
The success of the therapy is ensured by its unique quality both in Romania and in Europe, as well as by the increased percentage of couples who manage to achieve pregnancy and even carry it to term, i.e. to achieve complete success: the birth of a healthy baby.
Therapy with peloidogenic sapropelic mud extracted from Lake Ursu has an intense anti-inflammatory, biotrophic (edema retraction, activation of circulation and cell regeneration), emollient, moisturizing, bacteriostatic and healing effect on the skin, respectively activating the thyroid and adrenal glands (in hypothyroidism and chronic adrenal stress exhaustion) and the female reproductive axis (ovaries, pituitary, hypothalamus) with a long-lasting anti-inflammatory effect (pelvic inflammatory disease - repeated adnexitis) and stimulating female fertility.
These are just a few words that describe the beauty, importance and value of Lake Ursu. Every year, new and new tourists visit it either for relaxation or treatment. Choose to be one of them. Come to Sovata! Come to know the URSU LAKE in Sovata and benefit from all its curative properties!
