My friends didn't understand for a long time why I go so often to Baile Heculane? Yes, I live in Bucharest, the distance is great, and yet I've been five times in the last seven years. In 2016, when I went the first time, although I expected to see a dilapidated city, the reality turned out to be quite different. Yes, there are still a few broken windows and a few historic buildings that have yet to be renovated, but to me that means nothing.
I can see beyond them, I can imagine what was once there and what it will be in a few years, when the resort will surely regain its former splendor. But what mattered most was that I returned home with batteries fully charged, although, I had been a speaker at a conference, so I wasn't exactly on a relaxing vacation.
Here are the two main reasons why I go to Baile Heculane:
Let's remember that positive ions are in unventilated rooms, arising from industrial processes and pollution. Negative ions, on the other hand, are in well-oxygenated places where there is a lot of vegetation: in forests, mountains, near rivers and waterfalls.
The main sources of negative ions in Herculane are ferns, beech forests and the Banat black pine, a species that grows only in the Domogled Park, but there are also the 20 thermal springs and the Cerna waterfalls.
Once you breathe in negative ions, you feel energized, lively and rejuvenated. You will notice that your sleep improves, helps you concentrate, fight fatigue and headaches. In addition, you can consider negative ions to be natural antidepressants.
If you hang around the negative ions long enough, they have been shown to be effective in relieving allergies and treating bronchial asthma.
As a comparison with the concentration of at least 2000 negative ions per cubic centimeter, in rooms where positive ions predominate, the concentration of negative ions does not exceed 200 per cubic centimeter, which leads to a general lack of vitality and concentration, to respiratory ailments, headaches and decreased immunity.
All in all, one of the reasons why I like going to Baile Heculane is that I breathe health. The strongly ionized air, along with the mineral hot springs, are resources with powerful therapeutic properties. And what's more, this air really doesn't cost you anything.
It's important to say that I've stayed at Bacolux Aphrodite Resort, which I like for many reasons, but the main one would be the super spa treatments you can do at them and I'll leave you more links about these spa experiences:
Coming back to thermal water, since 2017, Aphrodite Resort has its own thermosulphurous spring. A new source of very richly mineralized water that reaches the surface naturally at temperatures of 36-37 degrees Celsius.
There are several springs in Băile Herculane, but the spring at Afrodita Resort has a very high degree of mineralization and therefore has therapeutic properties for rheumatic, locomotor, neurological, gynecological and dermatological diseases.
In one of the articles in despreSpa.ro, the balneologist Otilia Oprișan from Aphrodite Resort & Spa, wrote that depending on the chemical composition and the concentration of mineral substances, therapeutic waters can be used for external use, i.e. for bathing or for an internal cure, for drinking, aerosol, inhalation, but it is also used in injectable form or for vaginal irrigation.
Treatments with sulphurous thermal baths are useful for coughs, rheumatism, gout, but they also cure skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, various itches, acne and others.
I leave you below some links where you can find more information about Baile Herculane and I hope that what I have told you will be useful:
