From June 24, Ursu Lake is waiting for its visitors! Don't miss it! Come and float on the lake on the opening day!

Whether you choose to take a dip in the lake for relaxation or for your health, you should know that you can enjoy the sun and your vacation right on the shores of Lake Ursu, in complete safety.

"We are glad that the lake is in a very good condition, and all the water tests have come out very well, so on June 24 we start a new bathing season in the largest heliothermal lake in the world.", informs Andrei Rusu, administrative director Ensana Health Spa Hotels Sovata.

Lake Ursu in Sovata is the largest heliothermal lake in the world. It has the highest saline concentration on the planet and has recently celebrated 147 years since its formation, being the only lake for which the exact year, day, hour and minute of its formation is known. Based on research carried out by historian Jozsa Andras, it was established that Bear Lake was formed in 1875, on May 27, at 11.00 a.m., on the site of a meadow where two streams flowed and disappeared in a hole dug in the salt mountain. According to the historian, following a heavy rain, the waters swept away the hay and plant debris from the pasture and plugged the hole in the salt mountain.

With a surface area of 40,000 square meters, a depth of 18 meters and an average salinity of 300 grams/liter, Lake Ursu is a true source of health. The heliothermal phenomenon characteristic of Lake Usu was created by the continuous flow of a stream and precipitation into the lake, which formed a protective layer of fresh water over the salt water, creating a greenhouse effect and thus heating the deep salt water layers. The therapeutic effects of the water and mud from the lake are well known and are the basis of treatments for rheumatic, dermatological, gynecological and respiratory diseases.

Take note!

The water is the perfect temperature: 28˚C at the surface and 39˚C at a depth of 1.5 meters. Between 13.00 and 15.00 there is a break, during which the lake rests. During this time, it is compulsory to leave the lake, but visitors can stay in the swimming pool.

Another good news? Lake Aluniș, the little brother of Lake Ursu, has been open since the end of May. Its special feature is the clayey mud, which has beneficial properties in treating and preventing diseases such as locomotor, arthrosis, spondylosis, neurological and gynecological disorders.

Swimming pool ticket prices

The price of admission tickets to the Ursu Lake swimming pool, managed by the Ensana hotels in Sovata, is 40 lei for adults and 30 lei for children and senior citizens. For Lake Aluniș, the rates are 30 lei for adults and 20 lei for children. Customers can purchase multiple-entry tickets valid for several days. Between 1pm and 3pm, the lake is put to "rest". More precisely, we allow the fresh water to form its protective layer over the salt water and thus warm it up again. During this time, visitors are allowed to stay in the swimming pool, but swimming in the water is not allowed. Depending on weather conditions, Bear Lake awaits its visitors until mid-September.

Choose Sovata as your vacation destination and enjoy the healing power of nature! We are waiting for you, little and big, for a health bath in the largest heliothermal lake in Europe. Experience an Ensana Hotels branded summer! Find more details on ensanahotels.com/en
